You can easily open this Terminal on your Mac. Just go to the Applications folder. Under this folder, you will find the Utilities folder. The Terminal is located in this folder. Method #1: Using Finder

  1. Finder is square in shape and it looks like a blue smiley face.
  2. First, click on the desktop wallpaper.
  3. You can see the menu bar from the top of the screen. Under this bar, you will find Go.
  4. Choose Utilities. You can also open the utilities by typing Shift+⌘+U from the keyboard.
  5. In the below of the Utilities window, you can see Terminal. Double-click on it. The terminal window will open.

Method #2: Using Launchpad

  1. In the dock, just click on the Launchpad icon.
  2. Then, choose Other. After opening it, you will see a number of macOS apps like QuickTime, Disk Utility, Activity Monitor, Grab, TextEdit, Console, Stickies, Boot Camp Assistant etc.
  3. Just find the Terminal from these Utility apps. Click twice on Terminal to launch it.

Method #3: Using Spotlight

It is the easiest way to find apps, programs or anything in the Apple device. So, you can easily open Terminal by using this. Just follow the guideline which we provide here.

  1. On the top right corner of the screen, you will find a magnifying glass. This magnifying glass is actually the Spotlight search. You can also press Command and Space at the same time on the keyboard. It will also open the spotlight.

Method #4: Open Terminal in Recovery mode

Method #5: Using Keyboard shortcut

If you don’t want to use a third-party app to launch the Terminal, then you can try this method which will help you to open Terminal on Mac. Just go through all the instructions carefully.

  1. First, open Automator.app and select a new “Service” document
  2. You will find ‘Run AppleScript’ under the ‘Utility’ section.
  3. Set “Service receives” to “no input”, then paste the “Run AppleScript” action in the workflow.
  4. Now, set the content as we write below.

  1. Save as this document with any name, and then shut down the Automator.app
  2. Now, you have to go to System Preferences. Choose the Keyboard option. Now select Keyboard Shortcuts, and then choose Services. Just scroll down and you will find your new service under the General section. Make it as a Shortcut.

This method is difficult compared with the other methods. But, if you are not willing third-party apps like Finder, Launchpad, then you can use this method.  

Method #5: By Siri – The voice assistant of the iOS devices

Siri is the voice assistant and you can find anything by saying something to Siri. this time, it will also help you out.

  1. Just press alt and Space on the keyboard at the same time.
  2. Siri will open. After opening, just say ‘Open Terminal’. Siri will open the Terminal.

The shortcut way to open the Terminal

Press the Control key, Shift and “T” key at the same time on the keyboard. It will open a new Terminal window. But, if you press Command, Control, Option, Shift and T key at the same time, then it will open a new Terminal tab instead of a new Window.
